Eat Like an Olympic Athlete

During the evenings until the end of next week, NBC is airing some of the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic events. The ads can be interesting much like the ones shown during the Super Bowl. Although Americans are the only ones obsessed with football, the rest of the world could care less. But what more people are watching these days are the winter Olympics. There's been a commercial for a certain fast food restaurant that makes me chuckle and shed tears at the same time. It shows a guy walking into this restaurant and ordering 'chicken bites' and sitting with all these down hill skiers and snow boarders and the commercial is about how you can 'eat like an Olympic athlete' at this joint.

Come on, do you actually for one moment think that Olympians who constantly train and need to watch their weight especially for sports such as ski jumping each chicken bites which is by the way mostly corn and not chicken? Once in a while they may stray, and with the blessing of their coaches eat things (not food!) that have tons of sugar, salt and lard but it just sends the wrong message when we see elite athletes at fast food restaurants. But then if they are training several hours a day, they may be able to afford a few corn bites and french fries better than the rest of us mortals.
