Latest Interesting Medical News

A recent study that was published in the Feb.4 issue of the journal Nature has revealed that in certain obese individuals definite genetic mutations cause the weigh problem that may not be solved by eating less and exercising more. This study adds more evidence to the theory linking DNA and weight. The genetic variation in question is a deletion of about 30 genes which causes the carriers to extract more energy from food and also to store this energy more efficiently. But this genetic deletion did not occur in all obese individuals tested. This hints to the notion that obesity is a multi -factorial disease and there may be other gene clusters involved.
