I know of no protein bar that is actually low in sugar ( I mean LOW like 1-2 grams of
carbs)- let's face it, if you add any kind of nut, even in small amounts, to a candy bar, it increases the protein content of that bar. Are you now going to call it a protein bar?The whole concepts behind high protein meals with little sugar is that it won't spike your insulin level so fat deposition is inhibited. Now if you are going to eat a candy bar with tons of sugar and fat in it, so what if it also has 20 grams of protein? That is just more calories for your body to store as fat.
I have no knowledge of a true protein bar that has very little sugar and doesn't have an abundance of sugar alcohols. If you have found one, please let me know so I can be enlightened.
I just looked up EAS Myoplex carb control bars. Each bar has 20 grams of sugar alcohols. Research shows that sugar alcohols do not increase your insulin levels but those with sensitive digestive tracts may get very friendly with the toilet after ingesting these chemicals.
I don't know...I may just give up all this vegetable stuff and go for the cookie diet. Their slogan is eat a cookie, skip a meal. Wow, now that is what I want to teach my kids.
