WATCH WHAT YOU EAT, DON'T EAT WHAT YOU WATCH (ON TV)A friend asked me to continue... well think about the food commercials you see on TV. You see a person eating some cereal to lower their cholesterol even though they're probably eating three servings of the food (add milk); above and beyond the single serving calorie suggestions on the box. It's late at night and you've already had dinner and so you do the same... have cereal. Is it going to lower your cholesterol?
NO!!
It's going to add an easy 150-200 calories to your day (that is if you only have one serving)- increase your blood sugar which will then increase your insulin levels right before going to bed. This will then lead to fat deposition in your adipose tissues.
This single example was for a relatively 'healthy' food commercial. Let's not even go into all the other commericals that you see on TV which add nothing but inches to your waist.
So now let's go back to the cereal commerical and put it in context and see if it can truly decrease your cholesterol. It depends on the cereal and a host of other things such as:
1. total calories in a day
2. you genetics
3. how much exercise you get - cardiovascular exercise decreases the bad cholesterol and increases the good cholesterol
4. the amount of sugar you consume in a day
5. the amount of fruits and vegetables you consume in a day
So again watch what you eat and don't eat what you watch (on TV)- especially if it has a health claim!!!!
