Cereal-free Cereal for Breakfast

If you are trying to stay away from all the cereals that claim they are healthy but really nothing but sugar and a little fiber, here is a delicious alternative.  Actually you should know by now how I feel about most if not all cereal that is on the market currently.  Most have a lot of sugar, dried fruit (sugar) and some added fiber.  If you want fiber, eat leafy green veggies and cruciferous vegetables!  My favorite ridiculous marketing ploy is when the box says, "Same great cereal, new look"!!  Really?
Well, OK I can go on forever about how cereal is NOT good for you and the guy who is eating Cheerios on TV to lower his cholesterol is a paid actor who needs to lose weight by not eating cereal anymore.

I have been cooking up different combinations of my cereal for some time now and the following recipe is a very quick way to have some cold or warm cereal in the morning or anytime as a snack.  And yes it does contain milk which contains lactose not sucrose (table sugar).

1/4 cup ground flax seed
1/4 cup wheat bran
1/4 cup Textured Vegetable Protein (I buy it at HEB- in the bulk section)
Add as much or as little milk (either 2% or almond milk)
Stir-  and enjoy
You can also warm it up for cold winter mornings- It is so good!!

And my pet peeve about 2% milk- What is making America fat is not 2% milk but all the other trash that the country is eating- so enjoy your 2% if that is your choice!
