My favorite question that I usually get asked during the holidays is, "Do you workout when you are on vacation? " I answer it with another question, "Do you eat when you are on vacation?". You should look for an activity that burns calories and that you like. If you are in or near a city, you and I both know that there is always a gym somewhere around. Try to make a deal with them; sometimes they charge more a for single day pass than if you just went ahead and got a pass for a week or weekend. See which package is cheaper and if you are staying for a few days it would be better to go ahead and get a pass for the week. This is the easier scenario.

On the other hand if you are in the country or in a small town and it would be a hassle to drive to the city just to go to the gym, then you need to be a little more creative. In this scenario, it should be a circuit training routine either outside the house or inside. The first few times, you may feel like you are looking for an exercise to do, but it does get easier with practice. Come up with a handful of exercises that would last 40 minutes to an hour; such as lunges, squats, pushups, crunches, and if the weather permits you can add to this routine a few sprints. Invest in a few dumbbells and if you are driving to your destination, just take them with you. Let's face it; we do overeat during the holidays. But we always underestimate how much we eat and when we go to parties, the memories of eating platters of dessert are pushed into deep crevices of our brains never to be recovered again.
