A couple of points I Need to Make Clear

If you are trying to lose weight and need to cut back on carbs such as pasta, rice and bread, don't think you will lose weight simply by changing to whole wheat and whole grain. Yes of course the whole wheat bread is healthier for you but to lose weight you MUST cut calories. Regardless of whether those extra calories are from white bread or whole wheat bread.
And I know I have talked about this subject before but I don't know why some think that just by eating protein they will start getting lean. Carbohydrates do tend to cause fat molecules to be deposited in adipose tissues in the body (insulin is the singular fat depositor hormone in the human body), however, if you are drinking protein shakes, but not cutting calories it may be more difficult to lose weight than you think.
I am a true believer of cardio and its effects in weight loss. You don't necessarily have to run or get on the elliptical to get cardiovascular benefits. You can arrange a circuit with weights where transition from one station to another is relatively fast like the ones I did a few days ago. That kind of workout obviously gets your heart rate up and burns calories efficiently. However if you are the type to linger between each set and tend to wait a few seconds (or like most of us talk a little between sets) then you need a more strict cardio workout.
