Have you tried a persimmon today?

Next time you are at HEB try a persimmon. Have you had a persimmon yet? It is one of the most delightful fruits I have ever tasted. When I was growing up we had a persimmon tree in the back yard and when I taste a persimmon now, so many memories rush through my mind.

Persimmons are generally light yellow-orange to dark red-orange. There are many different varieties of persimmon, including the Japanese persimmon, the black persimmon native to Mexico, and the Mabolo native to the Philippines. The Japanese persimmon is widely cultivated; is edible in its crisp firm state but wonderfully sweet when fully ripened. The top producing persimmon country is China.

The more variety of fruits and vegetables you have in your diet the less likely you are to succumb to cheese nips or Cheetos or Ritz crackers.
