A Massive Explosion of New Diabetes Cases in the Next 40 Years

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) diabetes is expected to triple in the next few decades.  (translation: our children are over weight).  So one in three adults is going to have diabetes by 2050.  Currently it is one in ten.  Diabetes occurs when the body does not respond to or does not produce insulin (the hormone that regulates sugar in the blood).  Although genetics does play a role, excess weight and inactivity both are environmental contributors.

Diabetes contributes to many other deadly complications such as heart attacks, strokes, kidney failure, blindness and nerve damage.  Did you know it is the 7th-leading killer in this country?

Exercise and healthy eating habits can reduce the risk of diabetes by more than half.

What am I doing to reduce my chance of becoming diabetic?  I will start by doing an hour and a half of cardio this morning, followed by 1 hour of weight lifting.  Then hopefully later, I will go on a bike  ride.

Make small goals for yourself every day to become healthier so you can keep this terrible disease out of your life.
